Aly COOK - Radio New-Zealand Interview

On August 15 1943, Flight Lieutenant Royston Taylor, an RNZAF Squadron 7 airman took off in a Lancaster bomber on a mission to Milan. The flight crew of eight including airmen from England, Canada and Australia crashed in a field near Sassenay, France after being attacked by a night fighter. The people of the small village are certain that Lieutenant Taylor and the crew sacrificed their own lives to avoid crashing in the village. So every year, on August 15th, they hold a memorial service for Taylor and the other men. Recording artist Aly Cook was the first New Zealander to attend the service in 26 years.
